A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
REQUESTING THAT PORTIONS OF THE CITY BE DESIGNATED
RESTORATION ZONE AR ON FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAPS UNDER
THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE ACT OF 1968
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby finds and determines that
portions of the City of Lynwood within the floodplain area as
designated in the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the Los
Angeles County Drainage Area (LACDA) should be designated
Restoration Zone AR pursuant to Section 928 of the Housing and
Community Development Act of 1992.
Section 2. The City Council further finds and determines that
the aforementioned described portions of the City of Lynwood meet
the requirements of Section 928 of said Act for the following
reasons:
(1) The LACDA Flood Protection System has been deemed
restorable by a federal agency, the Army Corps of
Engineers.
(2) A minimum level of flood protection is still provided to
the floodplain area as designated in the LACDA FIRM.
(3) The LACDA Flood Control Project, authorized by Congress
and approved by the Secretary of the Army, would restore
the LACDA flood protection system within 10 years.
Section 3. The City of Lynwood, having met the criteria for
AR Zone designation as required by Section 928 of the Housing and
Community Development Act of 1992, hereby requests that areas of
the City of Lynwood included in the floodplain as designated on
LACDA Flood Insurance Rate Map be designated Restoration Zone AR.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution and file the same with the Director of.the Federal
Emergency Management Agency prior to January 31, 1993.
