Home My Public Portal About2023 0328 PV Platinum DayCITY OF `f' ;D L. 4 ,+ ' L s ` O WHEREAS, the Pleasant Valley Platinum dance team was established in 2003, is a member of the Iowa State Dance & Drill Team Association, and is led by head coach Katie Rokusek and assistant coach Maddy Strusz; and, WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team has tirelessly trained since June of 2022 in anticipation of the 2022/2023 dance season, have performed at numerous athletic events and competitions, and have hosted many dance camps; and, WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team is a 13 -time Iowa State champion and national semi-finalist; and, WHEREAS, on December 2, 2022, the PV Platinum dance team participated in the Iowa State Dance Championships at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa; and, WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team finished first in Class VII Porn, receiving 390 out of 400 points, which was their fourth first place championship in a row; and, WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team received the Judge's Choice Award for their pom routine, the judges citing that it was the "best performance of the day;" and, WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team finished second in Class VII Jazz, earning 362.5 points, finishing just behind Linn -Mar's 369 points; and, WHEREAS, six PV Platinum dancers participated in solo competition, each earning a Division I rating, and four placing in the top 10; and, WHEREAS, Josie Kaffenberger, team captain, earned her third state title in four years for her Class X! dance solo, receiving 269.5 points from a three judge panel; teammates Emma Richards (264 points) and Maci Quam (260.5 points) captured the next two places respectively; additionally, Clare Tinsman added an eighth -place finish for PV Platinum with 254.5 points; Sarah Abdullah and Kylie Crome also completed in dance solo competition for PV Platinum; and, WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team's outstanding results were only possible through the team's dedication and hard work throughout the season, as well as their ability to work together as a team and support each other. THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Kevin Adams, Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, do hereby proclaim March 28th as PLEASANT i`, VALLEY PLATINUM DAY in Riverdale, and encourage staff, residents, and visitors to join me in congratulating the PV Platinum dance team for their hard work, dedication, and achievements.
