WHEREAS, Josie Kaffenberger, is a member of the Pleasant Valley High School class of 2023; and,
WHEREAS, Josie is the Captain and a member of the Pleasant Valley Platinum varsity dance team,
WHEREAS, Josie has tirelessly trained since June of 2022 in anticipation of the 2022/2023 dance season,
has performed at numerous athletic events and competitions, and has participated in many dance clinics;
and,
WHEREAS, on December 2, 2022, Josie, as a member of the PV Platinum dance team and as a soloist,
participated in the Iowa State Dance Championships at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa; and,
WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team finished first in Class VII Porn, receiving 390 out of 400 points,
which was their fourth first place championship in a row; and,
WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team received the Judge's Choice Award for their pom routine, the
judges citing that it was the "best performance of the day;" and,
WHEREAS, the PV Platinum dance team finished second in Class VII Jazz, earning 362.5 points, finishing
just behind Linn -Mar's 369 points; and,
WHEREAS, Josie earned her third state title in four years for her Class XI dance solo, receiving 269.5
points from a three judge panel;
WHEREAS, Josie's outstanding results were only possible through her dedication and hard work
throughout the season, as well as her ability to effectively lead the PV Platinum dance team as the
Captain.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Kevin Adams, Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, do hereby
proclaim March 28th as
JOSIE KAFFEN

in Riverdale, and encourage staff, residents, and visitors to join me in congratulating Josie for her hard
work, dedication, and achievements.
