A RESOLUTION OF THE MOAB CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS
OF THE GRAND COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT
NO. 1 IN THE PLANNED CONSTRUCTION OF THE KLONDIKE LANDFILL.
WHEREAS, the Moab City Council recognizes the need and
importance of providing a cost effective and efficient solid waste
disposal system for the residents of Moab City, and
WHEREAS, the Grand County Solid Waste Management District No. 1
(the District) was created for the purpose of, and delegated the
authority to, construct, maintain and manage solid waste within Grand
County, and to provide for the financing of facilities and programs,
and
WHEREAS, the District has conducted a Solid Waste Management
Feasibility Study for Grand County, Utah, and through this and other
studies and analyses, has decided to construct a landfill at Klondike
Flats, and
WHEREAS, the District is currently undertaking the design and
permitting for the Klondike landfill, and
WHEREAS, the District has obtained financing for the construction
of the landfill from the Permanent Community Impact Board,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF MOAB CITY
as follows:
That the Moab City Council supports the construction of the
Klondike Landfill as proposed by the Grand County Solid Waste
Management Special Service District No. 1.
