on Tuesday. September 11, 1979 at 7:05 p.M.
Members present: Mayor, Thomas Anderson; Councilmembers, Thomas Crosby, William Reiser,
Sarah Lutz; Clerk -Treasurer, Donna Roehl; police Officers, Charles
Hoover, Jerome LaFond, Michael Rouillard; public Works Director,
Ron Duran
Absent: Councilmember, Nancy Laurent
Sarah Lutz reported that the next police negotiating session would be on September 20th.
She did not think that negotiations would be finalized for some time.
Charles Hoover stated that he would like to know by the end of September what amount the
city would be asking from Loretto as they needed that figure for their budget.
Discussion of the status of part-time officer Bob Anderson, and policing of the Drive Tn
Theatre and Medina Recreations.
Ron Duran reported that Richard Rrotzer would continue working part time with the hope of
becoming full time when sewer ponds in Maple plain, Medina and Long Lake are phased out.
Discussion of fire department contracts and amounts various fire departments are requesting.
Joan Scott of the public Safety Committee presented a preliminary committee report suggesting
hiring a full time policeman in place of the part time officer and securing some clerical
help for the police department.
Lou Remele, also of the public Safety Committee, stated that the Criminal Justice Council
will be completing their study before long; Also a merger with another city or cities
may be in the future for Medina.
Motion by Reiser, seconded by Lutz to hire Bob Anderson as full-time police officer as
of January 1st.
Motion declared carried
Discussion of the Elm Creek Watershed dues. Council agreed their requested increase was
to high. Donna Roehl stated that she would discuss with Medina's representative, Jeanne
Mabusth.
Remainder of meeting was spent in reviewing Mayor Anderson's proposed 1980 budget.
Motion by Reiser, seconded by Crosby to adjourn.
Motion declared carried
Meeting adjourned at 11:10 p.M.
