6. Additional Scope of Work and Fee for the Feasibility Study of Corridor B — •
Irvine Corona Expressway Project

Overview
As directed by the Riverside County -Orange County Major Investment Study
Policy Committee, staff initiated the feasibility study of Corridor B — Irvine Corona
Expressway Project. Top ranked firm Kleinfelder West, Inc. was selected in
April 2007 to provide consultant services for the study. The initial phase of the
study, geotechnical field investigation, was completed in November 2008.
To complete the effort, additional technical studies to more thoroughly evaluate
the feasibility of the Irvine Corona Expressway tunnel is required.
These additional studies were not included in the original scope of work.
Recommendations
A. Approve additional scope of work and fee to existing Kleinfelder West,
Inc., contract, in an amount not to exceed $451,227, for consultant
services to perform an additional feasibility study of the
Irvine Corona Expressway Project.
B. Request the Riverside County Transportation Commission and the
Orange County Transportation Authority to contribute $45,123 each for.
the required local matching fund.
