A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORT FEDERAL LEGISLATION ENDING THE
PRACTICE OF IMPOSING UNFUNDED FEDERAL MANDATES ON LOCAL
AND STATE GOVERNMENTS AND TO ENSURE THAT THE FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT PAYS THE COSTS INCURRED BY THOSE GOVERNMENTS
IN COMPLYING WITH CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS UNDER FEDERAL
r STATUTES AND REGULATIONS
I WHEREAS, unfunded Federal mandates on State and local
governments have become increasingly extensive in recent years;
WHEREAS, such mandates have, in many instances, added to
growing deficits in State and local budgets and have resulted in
the need for State and local governments to increase revenue or
curtail services; and
WHEREAS, such excessive fiscal burdens on State and local
governments have in man instances, undermined the ability of State
and local governments to achieve their responsibi'_ities under State
and local law;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CFTY CO'iSNCIL Ok THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FILdD, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Support Federal legislation which would end the
practice of imposing unfunded Federal mandates on local and state
governments and ensure that the Federal government pays to costs
incurred by those governments in complying with certain
requirements under Federal statutes and regulation.
I SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be forwarded by the
111 Office of the City Manager to all interested parties.
Passed approved and adopted this 15th day of February, 19993.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution.
