HomeMy Public PortalAbout09/11/86 Special CCM124 The Council of the City of Medina met in Special Session on Thursday, September 11, 1986 at 7:00 P.M. Present: Mayor, Thomas Anderson; Councilmembers, Wilfred Scherer, William Reiser, Anne Heideman, Robert Mitchell; Clerk -Treasurer, Donna Roehl; Planning and Zoning Administrator, JoEllen Hurr 1. POLICE DEPARTMENT Council discussed alternatives to providing police protection for the city. William Reiser explained that a letter would need to be sent to Sheriff Don Omodt requesting input as to the service that the County could provide. Council asked that Donna Roehl correspond with the Sheriff and also with the Chief of Police from Orono requesting information for police services. Council discussed various citizens and others that might be interested in serving on a screening and interview committee for the Police Chief's posistion. Donna Roehl was asked to contact Larry Peterson of Hennepin County and Bruce Hentges a resident of Medina and State Highway Patrol Officer. Several citizens names were suggested and Councilmembers Heideman and Mitchell agreed to serve on behalf of the City Council. Council agreed to finalize the committee selection on September 16th. Donna Roehl asked Council what kind of coordination with the city offices there would be after Chief Mike Sankey left. Council asked that Mike Sankey provide a list of the work he would be doing for the city and how various office procedures would be handled. 2. BUDGET Council reviewed various department budgets and revenue projections for 1987. Moved by Reiser, seconded by Scherer to adjourn.
