A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING PAYMENT OF 1997 TAX YEAR OBLIGATIONS TO TREE OF
LIFE YOUTH TRAINEES AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO COVER COST
OF OBLIGATIONS
~ WHEREAS, the Tree of Life Program was designed to provide job readiness
skills and job training opportunities for Lynwood youth; and
WHEREAS, as a result of legal opinion, the Finance Department disbursed
payment to trainees through the accounts payable system; and
WHEREAS, to mitigate the issues, a remedy is provided to have the City of
Lynwood pay the 15.3% employment tax liability and estimated tax prepazer fee of $50
per individual receiving Form 1099 Miscellaneous Income.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Lynwood does hereby find, determine, and
resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the City Council approves proposed remedy to mitigate issues for
Tree of Life youth trainees, whereas the City will disburse payment directly to
individuals for tax obligations and estimate tax prepazer cost.
Section 2. T~at the City Manager or his designee is authorized to make the

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
