A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE
AUTHORIZATION TO RECOGNIZE FIRE SERVICE RECOGNITION DAY
MAY 9t" 1998

WHEREAS, Firefighters of today are technically trained and highly skilled
professional public servants; and

WHEREAS, Lynwood Firefighters perform many,public services, in addition to
the suppression of fire, such as pre-fire training planning, inspections of commercial
industrial facilkies, care centers, St. Francis Hospital, our schools and churches; and
WHEREAS, Structure fires in Lynwood for the year 1997 accounted for only 7%
of the incidents that were responded to, this is due to the recognition of the fire safety
in the home and work place; and
WHEREAS, To focus attention in the varied and technical services offered by
the Fire Departments of our great Nation, the Intemational Association of the Fire
Chiefs have designated the second Saturday in May as a Fire Service Recognition
Day, and the Lynwood Fire Department is proud to be a part of this recognition; and
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Fire Department will be hosting an open house at Fire
Station #1 on Saturclay, May 9"', 1998 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. The activities will
include a"Jaws of Life" demonstration, the showing of the new Class "A" foam, and a
video presentation of fire safety to children.
