A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATION OF THREE THOUSqND DOLLARg FROM THE UNqppROPRIqTED GENERAI,
FUI`1D BAL.ANCE FOR 1997/98 FOR THE FINANCIAL qCTIVITIES RELqTIVE TO
PROGRAMMING FOR THE LYNWOOD KIDS IN GOVERNMENT PROGRqiv1
H'HEREAS, The City Council approved this program in concept at its tegularly scheduled meeting
of February 17, ~ 998.
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Kids In Government Prograzr~ promotes positive participation in
Lynwood City Govemment, by providing an oppo~h, for pazents, teachers, and students to study, visit
and participate in local govemment; ynd
H'HEREAS, the Lynwood Kids In Govemment Program provides for interfacing witt~ services
such as the City of Lynwood, Lynxrood Libtary, the local Law Enforcement agency, the Lynwood Fire
Departrnent and other local agencies; end
N'HEKEAS, local schools would be invited to tour various city facilities on a monthly basis; and
R'HEREAS, the study of a Council-Manager sryle of govemment N•ould be incorporated inro the
~wriculum of grade school studenu; and

WHERF.AS, the children participating in Lynwood Kids In Government Program would be
~a gnized aod awarded at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Mayor and Members of the City Council;
R'HE1tEAS, this program was not included in the 1997/98 fiscal yeaz budget approved by the City
Council.
NOW THEREppgg, gE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood that:
