AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO . 1998 -217
(ZONING ORDINANCE) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OP TIFFIN,
IOWA REGARDING PARKING SPACE DEFINITION AND PARKING
REQUIREMENTS IN R-3 ZONES .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C OIJNC'I..I, OP TIFFIN, IOWA
Section. 1 . Purpose_ The purpose of this ordinance is
to amend City of T.iff.in :Ordiinance No. 1998 -217 Section 5 . 05
and 5 . 07 regarding parking space definition and parking
requirements in R3 zones .
Section 2 . Amendment . City of Tiffin Ordinance
No. 1998-217, Section 5 . 05 RULES AND DEFINITIONS B.
Definitions 73 . Parking Spaces is hereby deleted and the
following insert in lieu thereof :
73 . Parking Space: A surfaced area,
enclosed in the main building or in an
accessory building, or unenclosed,
having an area of not less than one
hundred and eighty (180) square feet
exclusive of driveways, and not
including that area directly in front
of a single width garage, permanently
reserved for the temporary storage of
one vehicle and connected with a street
or alley by a surfaced driveway which
affords satisfactory ingress and egress
for vehicles .
Section 3 . Amendment : City of Tiffin Ordinance No.
1998-217 (Zoning) Section 5 . 07 D R-3 MULTIPLE-FAMILY
RESIDENTIAL . 8 . MINIMUM OFF-STREET PARKING AND LOADING
SPACE: (b) Multiple Dwellings, is hereby deleted and the
following insert in lieu thereof :

(b) Multiple Dwellings: one (1) space
per bedroom, with a minimum of two (2) '
spaces per unit plus one (1) space
for every four (4) units. Any fraction
of . a space to be rounded up to a whole-
,. number. •

Section 4 . Penalty Provision. The city may elect , at its
sole discretion, to prosecution any violation either as
simple misdemeanor or a municipal infraction.
Section 5 . Repealer. All ordinances or parts, of
ordinances in conflict_ with the provisions of this
Ordinance, are hereby repealed .
Section 6 . Severability. If any section, provision, or
part of this ordinance shall be adjudged to be invalid or
unconstitutional , such adjudication shall not affect • t:he
validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any section,
provision, or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional .
Section 7 . Effective Date . This ordinance shall he in
effect after its final passage, approval , and posting as
provided- by law.
On the 10th day of February 1999, at a regular meeting of
the Tiffin City Council ,' Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson
Bartels introduced Ordinance No . 1999_228 and
moved that it be given its first reading. The motion was
seconded by Councilperson Gericke
Ayes : Bartels, Kern, Gericke, Ryan and Watts
None. Absetn: None.
Nayes : —.
Five members of the council being present and having voted
"Aye" , Mayor Glenn R. Potter declared the motion carried,
and Ordinance No. 1999-228 , was read the first time and. ,
discussed and placed on record.
Thereupon, it was moved by Councilperson
Kern and seconded by Councilperson
Bartels that the laws and rules
providing that ordinances be considered and voted on for
passage at two council meetings prior to the meeting at
which it is to be finally passed be suspended and dispensed
with and that Ordinance No. 1999-228 be placed on its
last reading. -

Five members of the council being present and having voted
"Aye" , Mayor Glenn R. Potter declared the motion carried,
j and Ordinance No . 1999-228 , was then placed on its last
reading and was read the last time .
Thereupon, it was moved by Councilperson
Kern and seoonded by Councilperson
Gericke that Ordinance No.
1999-228 be placed upon its final passage and adopted.
Ayes : Bartels, Gericke, Ryan, Walls, and Kern
Nayes : None. Absent: ; None.
Five members of the council being present and having voted
"Aye" , Mayor Glenn R. Potter declared the motion carried,
and the ordinance was passed and adopted.
Whereupon the mayor declared that Ordinance No.
1999-228 be adopted and signified his approval of
same by fixing his signature thereto.
Passed by the council on the 10th day of February 1999 and
approved by the mayor on the 10th day of February 1999 .

ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
1998-217 (ZONING ORDINANCE) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
TIFFIN, IOWA REGARDING PARKING SPACE DEFINITION AND PARKING
REQUIREMENTS IN R-3 ZONES and known as No. 1999-228 was
duly passed by the council on the 10th day of February 1999,
and signed by the mayor on the 10th day of February 1999,
and published on the 27th day of February 1999, by
posting copies thereof in three public places within the
limits of the City of Tiffin, Iowa . Posted at Solon STa,te, Bank,
