A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN
CITY RECORDS
WHEREAS, Sections 34090, 34090.7 and 34091.5 of the
Government Code authorize the destruction of City records upon
approval of the legislative body of the City and with the written
consent of the City Attorney provided that said records do not
fall within certain specified categories and are not less than
two (2) years old, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has requested authority for the
destruction of certain records which do not fall within the ex-
cepted categories and all of which are more than two (2) years
old.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TEMPLE CITY, AS FOLLOWS:
That the following listed records of the Administrative
Department be destroyed in the appropriate manner:
Budget data (copies of working budget furnished to
City Council for action) prior to 1978
Budget data (back -up data and copies accumulated
within Departments) prior to 1979
Salary Survey, prior to 1977
Personnel (vacation, sick leave records) per retention
schedule
That the following listed records of the Business License
Department be destroyed in the appropriate manner:
Annual License (pink & yellow copies) prior to 1981
That the following listed records of the City Clerk's
Department be destroyed in the appropriate manner:
Charitable Solicitations License prior to 1980
Claims for Damages, prior to 1972
Fireworks Permits, prior to 1979
Yard Sale Permits, prior to 1982
ABC License Applications, prior to 1972
Nuisance Abatements files, prior to 1975
Tree removal requests completed - 1971 to 1976 and
Tree removal requests denied
Cable TV resolutions and ordinances (other cities) prior
to 1982
Other cities resolutions, prior to 1982
Organizational materials (SCAG, League of California Cities,
California Contract Cities Association, City Clerk Asso-
ciation) Discretion of City Manager
Elections Materials - pursuant to Elections Code.
That the following listed records of the Finance Department
be destroyed in the appropriate manner:
Paid Invoices - FY 1971 -72 and 1972 -73
Bank Reconciliation Statements - FY 1972 -73 thru 1977 -78

Receipt Journal - FY 1975 -76 thru 1977 -78
Expenditure Journal - FY 1975 -76 thru 1977 -78
Numerical Receipts - FY 1975 -76 thru 1977 -78
That the following listed records of the Planning Department
be destroyed in the appropriate manner:
Public Nuisance, prior to 1978
Zone Enforcements Files, prior to 1978
General Correspondence, and reference papers consisting of
documents which duplicate copies filed in the City Clerk's
office or elsewhere; documents which require no action;
rough drafts and other papers which contribute to pre-
paration of documents, and documents emanating from other
organizations, such as SCAG, Sanitation District, etc.
(all at the discretion of the City Manager)
That the following listed records of the Public Works
Department be destroyed in the appropriate manner:
General Correspondence, and reference papers consisting of
documents which duplicate copies filed in the City Clerk's
office or elsewhere; documents which require no action;
rough drafts and other papers which contribute to pre-
paration of documents, and documents emanating from other
organizations, such as County Road Department, California
Highway Patrol, Caltrans, SCAG, APWA, etc. (all at the
discretion of the City Manager)
That the following listed records of the Parks and Recreation
Department be destroyed in the appropriate manner:
Personnel - (Attendance Reports, 1972 - 1979), Time Cards
(1975 -1978) Attendance Reports (1972 -1979)
Fee and Charge Class Registration forms - 1970 thru 1979
Request for Use of Picnic Shelters and Facilities -
1961 thru 1981
News Releases - 1963 thru 1981
General Correspondence (at discretion of the City Manager)
APPROVED and ADOPTED this 5th day of April, 1983.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
by the City Council of the City of Temple City at a regular
meeting held on the 5th day of April, 1983, by the following
vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmembers- Atkins, Dennis, Gillanders, Swain, Tyrell
