AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1998-219 (ZONING
ORDINANCE) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN IOWA TO PROVIDE
AN EXPIRATION DATE FOR VARIANCES GRANTED BY THE BOARD OF
ADJUSTMENTS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIFFIN IOWA: .
Section 1 . Purpose. Amendments to Ordinance No. 1996-219
(Zoning) to provide an expiration date for variances
granted by the Board of Adjustments . '
Section 2 . Amendment : City of Tiffin Ordinance No. 1998-
21/ Section 5 . 16 .F. 5 (a) (4) (g) is hereby added as follows :
(g) Variances granted by the Board of
Adjustment shall expire one year from
the date they are granted by the Board,
if the variance allows construction,
that it is not initiated within that
one (1) year and completed by the
following year.
Section 3 . Repealer. All ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4 . Severability. If any section, provision, or
part of this ordinance shall be adjudged to be invalid or
unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the
validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any section,
provision, or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional .
Section 5 . Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in
effect after its final passage, approval, and posting as
provided by law.

On the 1 4th_day of April ,2000 at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City
Council, Tiffin,Iowa, Councilperson Ger;i7kP introduced Ordinance No.
j_9_9_2„:2 3 0 ,and moved that it be given its first reading. The motion was seconded by
Councilperson Walls
Ayes: Kern, Gericke, Walls, Bartels and Ryan
Naves: None
Five members of the council being present and having voted"Aye",Mayor Glenn Potter
declared Motion carried, and Ordinance No. 19 9 9_2 3 0was read the first time and placed on
. record.
On the 12th day of May, 1999 in a regular meeting,
Thereupon, it was moved by Councilperson Ryan and seconded by
Councilperson Gericke that the laws and rules providing that ordinances be
considered and voted on for passage at two council meetings prior to the meeting at which it is to
be finally passed be suspended and dispensed with and that Ordinance No. 1 999-2 3 0 be
placed on its last reading.
Ayes: Gericke, Bart-els_. Kern Wallis. Absent: Ryan
Nayes: None
Four members of the council being present and having voted"Aye", Mayor Glenn Potter
declared Motion to be carried, and Ordinance No.1999 2 3 0 was then placed upon its last
reading and was read the last time.
Thereupon,it was moved by Councilperson Gericke and seconded by
Councilperson was that Ordinance No.1999-23o be placed on its final
passage and adopted.
Four members of the council being present and having voted"Aye",Mayor Glenn Potter
declared the Motion carried, and Ordinance passed and adopted.

Whereupon the mayor declared that Ordinance ' No. 1999-230
be adopted and signified his approval of same by fixing his
signature thereto.

1998-217 (ZONING ORDINANCE) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN
IOWA TO PROVIDE AN EXPIRATION DATE FOR VARIANCES GRANTED BY

published on the 24th day of May 1999, by
posting copies thereof in three public places within the
limits of the City of Tiffin, Iowa.
