A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING STAFF TO
SUBMIT THE NOTICE OF INTENT TO PARTICIPATE
AS A CO-PERMZTTEE OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY'S
NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION
SYSTEM (NPDES) STORMWATER PERMIT CA0061654
WHEREAS, in 1990, the Federal Environmental Protection
Agency regulations mandated the control of pollutants in
Stormwater and non-storm runoff from urban areas through the
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit
Program; and

WHEREAS, the objective of"these regulations is to
protect receiving waters from contamination; and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County obtained its NPDES
Stormwater Permit in June 1990, Permit No. CA0061654; and
WHEREAS, the EPA guidelines requires that cities in the
Los Angeles basin to either secure an individual permit or become
a co-permittee of the Los Angeles County NPDES Stormwater Permit;
and
WHEREAS, it is more cost effective and advantageous to
the City to become a Co-Permittee of the Los Angeles County NPDES
Permit; and
WHEREAS, in order to become a Co-Permittee, the City is
required to file the Notice of Intent to participate with the Los
Angeles County.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the City Council authorizes staff
to submit the Notice of Intent to participate in the NPDES Permit
No. CA0061654 with the Los Angeles County.
Section 2. This resolution shall go into effect
immediately upon its adoption.
