HomeMy Public PortalAbout1997/07/08 A Special Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret was held on July 8, 1997, 6:00 P.M., Council Office, Municipal Building, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey. The following were noted present: Mayor Peter J. Sica Councilmember Bialowarczuk " DuPont " F ailace " Feingold " Gutowski Noted absent was Councilmember Fazekas. Also noted present was Borough Attorney Craig Coughlin. Mailed to The Home News & Tribune, The Star Ledger and posted on the Bulletin Board on July 3,1997. To adopt a resolution to appoint an attorney, Re: Condemnation proceedings and any other business that may come up before [he Council. #97-219 Professional Services, Gary Platt of Ullman, Furhman, Platt & Koy, Esqs. not to exceed $50,000.00 - Re: Condemnation of Property. A copy of this Resolution was placed upon the table for public review prior to the meeting in accordance with the Rules of Council and upon MMS&C, by Councilmember Failace and DuPont and unanimous affirmative vote of the five Councilmembers present, this meeting was opened for public input on this resolution. There being no further comments or objections to the Resolution, the Mayor declared the Public Hearing to be dosed upon MMS&C, by Councilmembers Failace and DllPont and unanimous affirmative vote of the five Councilmembers present. 1 JULY 8, 1997 SPOCIAL MEETING July 8, 1997 PRESENr SIA'IEMENf OF MEETING OOITCE l'URPOSE OF WE MEETING DISCUSSIOO MEETING OPmED- Public Input on Resolutions MEETING CLOSED JULY 8, 1997 RESOUJITOO #97-219 PROFESSIOOAL SEXVICE OONl'RACf FOR IÆAL SERVICES AOOPrED DISCUSSIOO Dock RESOLUTION #97-219 was introduced by the Mayor and was referred to the Council for action. Upon MMS&C, by Councilmembers Bialowarczuk and Failace RESOLUTION #97-219 "PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACT FOR LEGAL SERVICES" was adopted Upon individual roll call vote, Councilmembers Bialowarczuk, DuPont, Failace, Feingold and Gutowski voted in the affirmative Councilmember Fazekas was noted absent. Councilmember Feingold questioned that in the body of the Resolution it says, "pursuant to letter attached" and he said he didn't have a letter attached. The Clerk told him she had it in her office. Councilmember Feingold said it also said in the body of the Resolution "at a maximum cost not to exceed $50,000.00 billable per attached contract" that there is no contract attached. Mayor Sica said we have it. The Clerk said the contract doesn't get done until this is adopted. The letters should be in the bins because she had given a copy of it prior to this. Councilmember DuPont said he received a letter from Parmar about the dock being dangerous. Mayor Sica said he saw Parmar today and he told him to come to the Crusher on Thursday and he will give him enough of bolders to block it off so the cars can't go on it. Councilmember DuPont said the Police Department is going to get some signs. Mayor Sica said there is some kind of a letter from Green Acres, which he hasn't gotten yet, talking about DuPont doing remediation. He thinks what that is referring to is that DuPont's site is being remediated and there may of been stuff that had migrated over to that site and that we should look at that before we do anything. Then he questioned what that had to do with the new dock. He said he will have to look at the letter when they get it. 2 JULY 8, 1997 RESOLUTION #97-220 was introduced by the Mayor and referred to the Council for action. IĊ’SOUJfIOO #97-220 Closed Session Upon MMS&C, by Councilmembers Failace and Bialowarczuk RESOLUTION #97-220 "RESOLUTION TO GO INTO CLOSED SESSION" was adopted. Upon individual roll call vote, Councilmembers Bialowarczuk, Dupont, Failace, Feingold and Gutowski voted in the affirmMwe Councilmember Fazekas was noted absent. AOOPl'ED At approximately 6:30 p.m. . a Closed Session was held.. ADJOORNED 1'0 CLOSED SE5SIOO At approximately 7:22 p.m., upon MMS&C, by Councilmembers Feingold and Gutowski and unanimous affirmative vote of the fun membership present this meeting was opened to the public.
