Cemetery Resources Board Meeting
Thursday, May 30, 2019

Tim Theroff called the meeting to order. A quorum was present.
The Cemetery Resources Board met on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Jefferson
Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City,
Missouri.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the April 18, 2019 meeting by Rebecca Gordon,
Nancy Thompson seconded. Minutes were approved.
Old Business:
Cemetery Preservation Workshop - Nancy Thompson reported that the Cemetery Preservation
Workshop went very well. She reported many participants from the Missouri area attended, such as
Lee's Summit, Kirksville, Warrensburg, and Miller County. Approximately twenty participants came to
the workshop. Amanda Burke discussed cemetery restoration forms during the workshop and the
participants received hands-on experience by cleaning six headstones in the cemeteries.
Cemetery Veteran Gravestones - Capital Monuments has installed the veteran gravestones this past
month. The dedication for the veteran gravestones will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Nancy
Thompson had created a program guide that listed the participants for the dedication ceremony and
their duties.
Gone but Not Forgotten Memorial - David Grellner reported no new activity at this time.
Flags for Veterans - Nancy Thompson reported that the Heritage Girls placed flags at the veteran graves
in the cemeteries.
New Business:
Veteran Gravestone Dedication Event - This business was discussed earlier in the meeting.
Other Topics and Issues:
David Grellner verified with the Cemetery Resources Board Members that they wanted the large white
oak tree removed and the stump to be cut at an angle. The Board agreed to this action.
The next Cemetery Resources Board meeting was set for Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the
Thomas Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.
