RESOLUTION NO. 93-85
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING THE PROPOSAL TO SUBMIT A HUD SECTION 202 GRANT
APPLICATION WITH SAINT FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER (DAUGHTERS
OF CHARITY) TO DEVELOP AN AFFORDABLE SENIOR CITIZEN
APARTMENT COMPLEX
WHEREAS, Saint Francis Medical Center (Daughters of Charity) owns a
parcel of land approximately 15,600 square feet on the Long Beach Boulevard neaz
Norton Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Saint Francis Medical Center intends to sponsor a Housing and
Urban Development (HUD) Section 202 grant to construct a senior citizen apartment
building in the City of Lynwood; and the Southern California region will receive an
allocation to build 734 units and applications for fiscal yeaz 93 are due on July 8, 1993;
and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood has never been a recipient of a Section 202
senior grant and therefore the project team has an excellent chance of being awarded the
grant; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood is mandated under the Comprehensive
Housing Affordability Strategy (CHAS) and the City's Housing Element to construct unit
for low income senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood agrees to assist the team throughout the
planning and development process and provide assistance as required by HUD.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of
Lynwood does ordain as follows:
tin 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood, based on the
aforementioned findings and determinations hereby adopts this resolution.
Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 6th of July, 1993.
