A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD ADOPTING AN EXTENSION
REQUEST TO THE STATE OFFICE OF PLANNING
AND RESEARCH FOR AN ADDITIONAL TWO
MONTHS TO UPDATE THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
1977 GENERAL PLAN.
WHEREAS, the General Plan of the City of Lynwood has been
amended from time to time to include adoption of various State
mandated and discretionary elements, but has not substantially
' updated the plan since 1977; and
WHEREAS, on October 18, 1989, the State office of Planning
and Research granted the City a(9) nine month extension of time
which will expire July 1, 1990; and
WHEREAS, OPR requires two documents when considering an
additional extension of time. The first document being a City
Council resolution formally requesting the extension. The second
document being an up-to-date progress report giving the current
status of the plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does
hereby find, order, determine and resolve as follows:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood requests
an extension of time for an additional two-months based on the
following:
1. Though the update program is near completion, Staff
recommends that the City Council request a two-month
extension in order to allow ample time to complete the public
hearing process and adopt the General Plan.
~ 2. Section 65361 of the California Government Code authorizes
the Office of Planning and Research (OPR) to grant local
jurisdictions up to a two year extension of time in order to
complete and adopt mandatory elements of a General Plan.
3. If the Office of Planning and Research grants the City of
Lynwood the extension; the City agrees that the remaining
work will be pursued diligently and completed within the
extension time granted.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.

1990.
