A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
TOCOOINGTHE CITYHINRITS ANTIEGRAFDTTIIEFFORTS~.TED AREAS
WHEREAS, grafitti is an area-wide problem which affects
all areas of Southern California; and
WHEREAS, grafitti vandals cause extensive damage to
both public and private property; and
WHEREAS, the costs of grafitti both monetary and
psychological - are tremendous drain on a community; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to combat qrafitti, the City of
Lynwood has adopted ordinances which prohibit the sale of spray
paint and ink markers of all kinds to minors; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has further established
Ordinances establishinq fines for grafitti offenders as well as
rewards for information leading to the identity, arrest and
conviction of grafitti offenders; and

WHEREAS, City of Lynwood can be successful in its
anti-grafitti efforts only if all Southern California Cities and
unincorporated County areas also take an aggressive anti-grafitti
stand and adopt and enforce ordinance similar to those in effect
in Lynwood;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Lynwood hereby resolves as follows:
SECTION 1. That all Cities and Counties should adopt ordinances
similar to those in effect in the City of Lynwood.
SECTION 2. That the League of California Cities, the Independent
Cities Association, the Southern California Association of
Governments, the California Contract Cities Association, and the
County Supervisors and Administrators of California all encourage
their memberships to adopt Ordinances similar to those in effect
in the City of Lynwood.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall go into effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 1~r day of
May 1990.
