Coyne , Management Analyst SUBJECT: TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION ACTIONS- MEETING OF DECEMBER 10,2014 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Transportation and Public Safety Commission (Commission) actions from their meeting of December 10, 2014. BACKGROUND: On December 10, 2014 , the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting . ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the December 10, 2014 meeting : 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Clift, Haddad, Nimri , Vice-Chairman Stratis , Chairman Redmond Absent: Commissioner -None Excused: Comm issioner-None 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Commission approved the m inutes of their November 12, 20 14 me eting . City Council January 6, 2015 Page 2 of 2 3. PARKING CITATION HEARINGS The Commission held three hearings in person; upheld one citation and dismissed two citations. The Commission held two hearings requested by written declaration; upheld one citation, and dismissed one citation. 8. NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST TO ADD A YELLOW CURB MARKING (COMMERCIAL LOADING ZONE) TO THE NORTH SIDE OF SERENO DRIVE ADJACENT TO 5300 NORTH ROSEMEAD BLVD The Commission heard a presentation by Community Development Director Forbes regarding a request to add a yellow curb marking (commercial loading zone) to the North side of Sereno Drive adjacent to 5300 North Rosemead Boulevard. The Commission unanimously approved the request. B. REVIEW OF ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF BACK-IN PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN CITY-OWNED PARKING LOTS The Commission heard a presentation by Management Analyst Coyne discussing the advantages and disadvantage$ of back-in parking restrictions in City-owned parking lots . The Commission voted unanimously to recommend to City Council that the prohibition on back-in parking in City-owned lots be repealed, and directed staff to return to the Commission in three months with recommendations on specific exceptions where back-in parking should continue to be restricted. CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to receive and file this report. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year 2014-15 City Budget.
