School Council Minutes
April 28, 2016
The following Council Members: Brendan O'Brien, Denise Fronius, Lori Gilmore,
Marcia Galazzi , Laureen Barnes and several parents were present when the
meeting began at 2:l Opm in the Professional Development room.
The March minutes were approved and accepted.
Principal's Report was distributed.
Mr. Keith Gauley came as our guest speaker. We met specifically to hear an
update and to discuss the Elementary Report Card and Elementary Mathematics
Survey results.
➢ Report Card Changes:
o Narrative comment added and other comments remain the same.
➢ Elementary Mathematics:
o Looking at responses to help kids who are struggling.
o Teachers pros and cons from survey:
+ Understandings more deep & broad, problem solving skills
enhanced, application of skills improved.
- Working on developing more re-teaching, intervention and hands
on materials.
➢Parents:
o Would like 1 or 2 strategies that work which they can choose &
depend on.
o Brendan O'Brien thinks it is harder for the parents but they need to
educate themselves with the program.
➢ Module Tips and Homework Helpers have been added to the Parent Page
on the Nauset website.
o Find info & quick videos to go with each module and subject.
Denise explained our Nauset Wellness Day. We started the day with a walk
around the track, pledging Allegiance to the flag and a very relaxing
mindful minute led by Mrs. Fronius.
Our next meeting will be tomorrow,Thursday, May 19th at 2:15pm in the library.
We adjourned at 3:1Opm.
