HomeMy Public PortalAbout1997/09/11 A Special Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough ofCarteret was held on Thursday, September 11, ]997, 6:00 P.M., Municipal CourtlPolice Facility, 230 Roosevelt Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey. Upon individual roll call, the following were noted present: Mayor Peter 1. Sica Councilmember Bialowarczuk " DuPont " Failace " Feingold " Gutowski Noted absent was Councilman Jack Fazekas. Also noted present Borough Attorney Craig Coughlin, Patrick DeBlasio, Paul Mercantanti, Genny Lavan, Cindy DeCamp, Susan Skoczypiec. Mailed to The Home News & Tribune, The Star Ledger, and posted on the bulletin board on September 5, ]997. The Clerk stated that the purpose of the meeting is for grievances. A Closed Session may be held. RESOLUTION #97-283 (A) was introduced by the Mayor and was referred to the Council for action. Upon MMS&C, by Councilmembers Failace and Bialo~arczuk RESOLUTION #97-]02 "RESOLUTION TO GO INTO CLOSED SESSION" was adopted. Upon individual roll call vote, Councilmembers Bialowarczuk, DuPont, Failace, Feingold and Gutowski voted in the affirmative. At approximately 6:0] P.M., the meeting adjourned into Closed Session. Upon MMS&C, by Council members Gutowski and DuPont and unanimous affirmative vote of the five (5) members present, the meeting was opened to the public at approximately 6:36 P.M. Borough Attorney Coughlin stated that with regards to the two grievances involving Genny Lavan, the first, in regards to the one hour pay deduction 1. SEPTE1œER ~.= ''097 SPECIAL MEETING SeptBIb;~r 1l, 1997 ROLL CALL STA'1ÐIINr OF MEETING NO'i'ICE PURPOSE OF MEETING RESOLUTION ~97-283(A) CLOSED SESSION AIJOPrED AD.:iOURNED IN'i'O CLOSED SP..5SION MEETJNG OPmED DISPOSITION OF GRIEVANCES sEP'JÐ'IBER n. 1997 DISPOSITION OF GRIEVANCES Con't. it is the decision of the Mayor and Council that she be awarded one hour's pay based on the fact that she was working during the time and that she inadvertently indicated or erroneously indicated that the hour should be marked off, in regards to the grievance involving the location of her work station within the building, the Mayor and Council have determined that it is not a grievable item and have dismissed the grievance, in regards to the grievances involving Cindy DeCamp and the Union claim for part-timers to receive sick benefits, the matter has been tabled pending the outcome of ongoing negotiations, ongoing collective bargaining negotiations. ADJOURNED There being no further business or discussion, the meeting adjourned at approximately 6:38 P.M., upon MMS&C, by Councilmembers Gutowski and Failace and unanimous affirmative vote of the (5) members present.
