STRATEGIC PLAN STUDY SESSION
JANUARY 10, 2015
Mayor Blum called the Special Meeting to order at 1:11 p.m .

meeting at 1:13 p.m .) Chavez , and Blum
ABSENT : Councilmember-None
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Cook , City Clerk Kuo , Administrative Services
Dire ctor Hause , Parks and Recreation Directo r Burroughs ,
Commun ity Development Director Forbes , Assistant to the
City Manager/Economic Development Manager Haworth ,
Executive Assistant to the City Manager/City Council Corella
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS -None
4. TEMPLE CITY STRATEGIC PLAN
A) OVERVIEW OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN
Mayor Blum gave a brief overview of the establishment of the Strategic Plan
and the importance of this plan .
City Council discussed the programs listed on the Strategic Plan and
reviewed the prior it ies assigned to each program .
Meeting recessed at 1:43 p.m. and reconvened at 1:45 p.m .
City Council briefly d iscussed the funding for the programs and if the
priorities assigned to the programs should be tied to available funding .
City Manager Cook and Administrative Services Director Hause suggested
that City Council discuss program fundi ng at the upcoming Special City
Council meeting regarding City's Mid-Year Budget Review and 5-Year
Forecast.

City Council discussed the priorities assigned to the programs listed in the
Implementation P lan by the Strategic Plan Implementation Standing
Committee . Directions were given to staff and City Manager to address
these program prio rities .
Meeting recessed at 2:29p.m. and reconvened at 2 :42p.m .
B) REVIEW OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN IMPLEMENTATION
Mayor Blum and City Council discussed the Implementation Plan program
objectives and provided staff with directions.
City Council directed staff to add the following programs and additional tasks
to the Implementation Plan : Emergency Preparedness , CDBG , Leadership
Program to the Communications P lan , and Sign Ordinance and downtown
commercial corridor W i-Fi access to the Economic Development Program .
C) NEXT STEP
City Council directed staff to bring back a revised Implementation Plan of the
Strategic Plan for City Council review at the Regular City Council meeting of
January 20 1h and adoption on February 2 .
5. ADJOURNMENT
The Special Meeting was adjourned at 3 :10p.m .
