A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TAE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING STAFF TO OBTAIN INFORMAL BIDS
FOR LEASE OF PHOTOCOPIERS AND PURCHASE OE COMPUTERS AND
APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO COVER THE LEASE AND
PURCHASE OF THE EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the City purchased a photocopier several years
ago to primarily facilitate agenda preparation and certain other
daily reproduction needs; and
WHEREAS, the photocopier used primarily for agenda
preparation is currently be utilized daily by all City
Departments including the Sheriff's; and
WHEREAS, the heavy utilization of the photocopier
causes constant need for repairs; and
WHEREAS, new printshop quality photocopier would cost
the City $ 140,000 or approximate $30,000 per year to lease; and
WHEREAS, an alternative to the lease/purchase of a new
printshop quality printer is to lease several smaller upgraded
copiers for the several departments that have heavy daily
reproduction requirements; and
WHEREAS, this alternative would extend the useful life
of the current primary copier; and
WHEREAS, certain additional automation needs have been
identified by staff that would enable all City Departments to
' access the City's mini-computer; and
WHEREAS, certain hardware and software is necessary to
satisfy all of the current automation needs of the City; and
WHEREAS, all necessary funds to satisfy the automation
needs contemplated herein have been identified in the Human
Resources Department except for $5,000; and
WHEREAS, the necessary budget amendments will be made
to appropriate funds to the appropriate amounts to cover the
requirements being cited.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Lynwood, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Council of the City of Lynwood hereby finds
and determines that the purchase of computer equipment and the
leasing of copiers for certain departments can be completed more
expeditiously and efficiently through informal bids.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager or his designee is authori2ed
to make an appropriation of $ 5,000 to purchase necessary
computer equipment and an additional appropriation of $ 15,000 to
lease photocopiers for certain departments from the appropriate
fund balances as specified in the staff report attached hereto to
cover the annual lease payment.
I, the undersigned, City Clerk of the City of Lynwood,
do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was passed and
adopted by the City Council of the City of Lynwood at a regular
meeting held on the 7th day of Auaust ,1990.
