The board meeting was called to order and the minutes from the January meeting were approved as written.
Maria provided an update on the new facility, including that she is still waiting for Jason to release the money. Question remains is how much. Debbie sent Bubba an e-mail two weeks
prior to the meeting.
Maria provided an update on relationship building, including her meeting with Rusty Fleetwood as well as talking with others, including Jim Klutz and others with the Tybee Post Theater,
who are excited about north end development. There is space for the TIMSC to participate in one of the North End Charette meetings at the Shriner’s Club, dates that are best are June
28-30.
Maria provided an update on Sidewalk to the Sea – year one report is completed and is planning for year two.
Maria provided an update on the gallery progress, that it would be completed within the next few weeks as well as an update on Salty.
Maria met with Sottile and gave them the power point presentation and Sottile was to meet with the Building Committee at the end of April.
Maria provided an update on the Turtle Trot, including additional benefits for sponsors via the banner being left up for one year and the opportunity to provide rack cards to the TIMSC.
Maria is creating a Right Whale exhibit for the TIMSC.
Maria would like to purchase bar tables and invite people in to discuss work via cocktail get togethers that has been done at the TIMSC. She would like to have 3 or 4 of these events
take place prior to the North end Charette meetings.
John has resigned as both a Board Member and Treasurer. Should he receive a gift? Plaque, book from the gift shop, gift plate, thank you letter? Determined to give a gift that reflects
the Marine Science Center.
Debbie provided an update on Sea Kayak Races, including initial discussions with the Tybee Tourism Council providing help with marketing of the races. Discussion of potential for holding
an evening event after the races. Looking for a Title Sponsor. Would like ideas and feedback on who might be good to look to.
Mike inquired if there is a list of all former Board members?
Mike requested that a complete list be made of organizations, potential donors and potential stakeholders list for Charette. Debbie or Mike will put list on of potential stakeholders
on Wiggio.
Mike discussed the possibility of asking a member of the Georgia Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association to join the Board.
Judy provided information on the Islands Networking group organized by Scott West and the potential to hold the next event at TIMSC – April 10. Judy to discuss with Scott. Four categories
for events at the TIMSC: Government/local; Island Tourism; Tybee Businesses; Islands networking.

Next Board meeting is May 23 at 7 pm at the TIMSC.
