First public input session on the skate park design will be on
Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at 7pm
Leesburg, VA (July 1, 2015) – The first community input session on the skate park design will be
on Tuesday, July 7 at 7:00pm in the lower level of Ida Lee Park Recreation Center. All interested
community members are invited to join Parks and Recreation staff and the team from Spohn
Ranch. The types of elements, features, and style of park desired by the Leesburg skating
community will be discussed. Means for members of the public to provide additional input via
social media will be launched in the near future.
Spohn Ranch has designed and built several skate parks in the Washington DC area, including
parks in North Laurel, Maryland, and Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, Virginia. In developing skate
park projects, Spohn Ranch focuses on the community, environmental responsibility and state -
of-the art designs.
The Leesburg Town Council awarded a contract for the design and redevelopment of the
Catoctin SkatePark to Spohn Ranch, a California-based skate park design firm, at their June 23,
2015 Town Council meeting.
