Home My Public Portal About93-145 (12-07-93)RESOLUTION NO. 93-145 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL AND SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY ON NOVEMBER 2, 1993, DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF AND ~! CONFIRMING SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW. Itl WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election and a Special Municipal Election, as consolidated with the Special Statewide and Consolidated Elections, was held and conducted in the City of Lynwood, California, on Tuesday, November 2, 1993, as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of election was given in time, form and manner as required by law; voting precincts were properly established; election officers were appointed; and in all respects the election was held and conducted, the votes were cast, received and canvassed, and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the California Elections Code for the holding of elections in general law cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to resolutions duly adopted by the City Council, the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk of the County of Los Angeles canvassed the returns of the election and has certified the results to this City Council in the form and manner attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by this reference; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City in Lynwood does resolve, declare, determine and order as follows; Section 1. The whole number of ballots cast in the City, excluding absent voter ballots, was 3,407. The whole number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was 400, making a total of 3,807 ballots cast in the City. Section 2. The names of the persons voted for at the election for Members of the City Council are as follows: Margaret Araujo Lewis L. Dias Mark Anthony Flores Andrea L. Hooper Robert Henning Jim Morton Alberto Montoya-Penalber Ada Candelario McZeal Jack Keane Paul H. Richards Armando Rea Arturo Reyes Shawn Omar Powell-Furillo Iris Pygatt Kent L. Swift Bill Lewis Patricia Carr Evelyn Wells The Measure voted upon at the election is as follows: MEASURE K SHALL CARD CLUBS IN WHICH ANY GAMES PERMITTED BY LAW, SUCH AS DRAW POKER, LOW-B'ALL POKER AND PANQUINGE (PAN) ARE PLAYED BE ALLOWED IN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD Section 3. The number of votes given at all precincts and the total number of votes given in the city to each of the persons named above for the office for which such persons were candidates, and for and against Measure K, were as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto. Section 4. The City Council declares and determines that PAUL RICHARDS was elected as Member of the City Council of the City of Lynwood for the full term of four years; ARMANDO REA was elected as Member of the City Council of the City of Lynwood for the full term of four years; ROBERT HENNING was elected as Member of the City Council of the City of Lynwood for the full term of four years; and that, as a result of the election, a mojority of the voters voting on Measure K relating to card clubs did not vote in favor- of it, and that Measure K was not carried and shall not be deemed adopted and ratified. Section 5. The City Clerk shall enter upon the records of the City a statement of the results of the election showing the following: (a) The whole number of ballots cast in the City. (b) The names of the persons voted for. (c) The measure voted upon. (d) For what office each person was voted for. (e) The number of votes given at each precinct to each person and for and against the measure. (f) The number of votes given in the City to each person and for and against the measure. Section 6. The City Clerk is hereby directed immediately to sign and deliver to each person elected a certificate of election and to administer to each person elected the oath ._ of office prescribed in the California Constitution in order that such persons may be duly installed .as new officers of the City of Lynwood.
