A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING STAFF TO SEND OUT A
REQUEST FOR pROPO$AL$ TO FIRMS SPECIALIZING IN
TRAFFIC STUDIES AND APPROVING THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INTERIM CONGESTION
RELIEF MEASURES
WHEREAS, the I'-105 Freeway was opened to traffic on
October 14, 1993; and
WHEREAS, normal traffic patterns in the city have been
altered due to the opening of the I-105 freeway; and
WHEREAS, traffic flow has increased on local streets
south of the I-105 freeway between Bullis Road and State Street
causing significant congestion; and
WHEREAS, a traffic study is needed to look at traffic
volumes, accident history, travel patterns, volume capacity of
streets, etc. in the area and make recommendations as to ways to
improve traffic flow and relieve congestion; and
WHEREAS, Interim Congestion Relief measures can be
implemented to provide temporary relief until a permanent
solution can be found.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the City Council authorize the
Director of Public Works to send out a Request for Proposals to
firms specializing in Traffic Engineering to address the
increased congestion due to the opening of the I-105 freeway.
Section 2. That the City Council authorizes and
approves for implementation the set of "Interim Congestion Relief
Measures" attached hereto and made part of this resolution.
Section 3. That this resolution shall go in to effect
immediately upon is adoption.
