AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE,CITY
OF Tif fin , IOWA, 2002, BY ADDING NEW PROVISIONS PERTAINING
,TO THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE BY REQUIRING.CONSTRUCTED
SINGLE AND MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES TO COMPLY
WITH THE,RESIDENTIAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE .

Be It Enacted by the City Council of the City of Ti f f i Wa>
SECTION'1. SUBSECTION ADDED. - 'Code of 1
Ordinances of'the City of Ti f f i /Iowa, , is amended by adding
RESIDENTIAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE STANDARD TIA-570-B "
and adopting the following in lieu thereof:

18. RESIDENTIAL TELECOMMUNICATIONSINFRASTRUCTURE
, STANDARD TIA-570-B
A. Installation required. All single and multi-family residential structures .
`constructed after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter I
V shall be wired to the following standards: ..
1. Installation of at least one RG-6 cable and two Category 5 cables from
the service provider's point of connection to a demarcation point within
the building ,
.. , 2. Installation of at least one RG-6 and one Category 5 cable from the-
demarcation point to each of the following locations: kitchens,
bedrooms, family rooms, great rooms, living rooms, dens, and study
rooms.
B. Installation of at least one 10-volt electrical duplex outlet withni six fekt of
t.. the demarcation point. k L
Section 3. Penalty Provision. The city may elect, at its sole discretion, to prosecution any
violation either as simple misdemeanor or a municipal infraction.
Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of
this Ordinance are hereby repealed. t -

Section 5. Severability. If any section, provision,or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged '
to be invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a
whole, or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional:

"t Section 6. Effective Date. T_his ordinance shall be in effect after its final passage, approval,-
and posting as provided bylaw.
