The Housing Subcommittee met last Thursday, January 26, 2017. At this meeting Wendy Cohen was present. Wendy Cohen has been hired as a consultant to assist the CPC with their housing applications. Her resume has been distributed to the Committee and it was noted that she is highly qualified. Wendy has felt that some of the numbers in the Brewster Woods proposed project were high and she will report at the next meeting. The CPC has approved $600,000 for the Brewster Woods project back in 2013 for 60 units. There have been changes to the application whereby the number of units was reduced to 30 units for the same cost of$600,000. The Governor Prence project was reviewed. This project will be reduced by$25,000 following review by Wendy Cohen. This is a regional project located in Eastham. The DHC has rejected this project for tax credits for lack of community support. Wellfleet was asked for$100,000 but they granted only$50,000; Truro has been asked for$100,000; Orleans has been asked for $200,000 and Brewster has been asked for$200,000 originally that has been reduced to $175,000. Brewster will receive no credit for this project towards affordable housing since this is a regional project. 6. Items that the Chair could not have reasonably anticipated. i Cape Rep Theatre has submitted an update on the project that was distributed at the meeting. The Oral History project team may request some funding, but they are not sure if they are eligible for CPC funding and this will be investigated further.
