WHEREAS, coach Kenny Wheeler has led the Pleasant Valley High School Girls Track and Field ("PVGTF") team for 16
seasons and is assisted by coaches Kaz Johnson (9 seasons), Jason Vice (6 seasons), Maddie Reynolds (5 seasons),
Alyssa Simon (3 seasons), and Madi Glatz (3 seasons); and,
WHEREAS, PVGTF qualified in an amazing 17 out of 19 events to compete in the state track and field meet May 18-
20, 2023, at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, earning 52 points, and finishing 4th place as a team in Class 4A;
and,
WHEREAS, at the state meet, Grace Boleyn, Jessie Clemons, Caroline Corcoran, Jaylee Duncan, Mackenzie Fah, Reese
Goodlet, Ashley Hansen, Kaylee Mowen, and Lydia Sommer all set personal records in their events; and,
WHEREAS, at the state meet, senior Lydia Sommer set a school record in her final race as a Spartan, finishing the
1,500 meter run in a record 4:35.56, and junior Reese Goodlet set a school record in discus with a throw of 146 feet 7
inches; and,
WHEREAS, at the state meet, sophomore Mackenzie Fah earned the state 4A championship with a shotput throw of
41 feet 3 3/4 inches, and junior Reese Goodlet earned the state 4A championship with a discus throw of 146 feet 7
inches, to become PV's first girls' state discus champion; and
WHEREAS, the "All -State" designation is awarded to athletes who finish in the top 2 in their class and event, and
Grace Boleyn (800m run, 2nd place), Reese Goodlet (shot put, state champion), and Mackenzie Fah (discus, state
champion) earned the All -State award; and,
WHEREAS, the "Elite All -State" designation is awarded to athletes who finish in the top 4 in their event across all
classes in the state, and Grace Boleyn (800m run), Lydia Sommer (3,000m run), Reese Goodlet (discus), and Malayna
Albertson, Sophia Lewis, Ashley Hansen, and Grace Boleyn (distance medley relay) earned the Elite All -State award.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Anthony Heddlesten, Mayor of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, do hereby proclaim
June 13th as
PLEASANT ALL Y GIRLS TRACK & FIELD DAY

Field team on their hard work, dedication, and achievement.
