Evening Rush Hour Traffic Restrictions on Battlefield Parkway
at the Route 15 Bypass Begin on Thursday, August 27, 2015
Drivers will not be able to turn right on a red light from Battlefield Parkway to
northbound Route 15 during weekday evening peak times, 3pm to 6pm
Leesburg, VA (August 26, 2015) – Beginning on Thursday, August 27, 2015, drivers traveling
westbound on Battlefield Parkway on the north side of Leesburg will not be able to turn right
on a red light onto northbound Route 15 during the weekday evening rush hour. The no-right-
turn-on-red restrictions will be in effect Monday through Friday, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
According to Renée LaFollette, Leesburg’s Director of Public Works and Capital Projects, this
restriction will help control the flow of traffic on northbound Route 15 by preventing vehicles
from blocking the intersection.
Leesburg Police will be monitoring the intersection and will issue warnings for the first two
weeks of the restriction. After September 10th, drivers making an illegal right turn on red will be
ticketed.
