A resolution of the City Council of the City
of Lynwood approving senate Concurrent
Resolution 34, introduced by Senators
Beverly, Dills and Watson, seeks to
designate State Highway Route 105 as the
Glenn Anderson Freeway.
WHEREAS, Congressman Glenn Anderson, as former Mayor
of the City of Hawthore, California State Asemblyman and
Lieutenant Governor of the State of California, has been a
champion of public transportation throughout his career in
government; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Anderson, as Chairman of the
Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, which is under the
Committee of Public Works and Transportation of the House of
Representatives, has preserved and continued federal funding for
operating assistance and for replacement of transit vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Congressman Anderson's most recent success
on behalf of public transit in the Los Angeles area was the
commitment of $870 million of federal funds for the Metro Rail
Project; and
WHEREAS, Senate Concurrent Resolution 34,
intorduced by Senators Beverly, Dills and Watson, seeks to
' designate State Highway Route 105 as the Glenn Anderson Freeway;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of
Lynwood, California does hereby go on record in support of SCR 34
and urges the State Legislature to unanimously accord this honor
to Congressman Glenn Anderson, one of the States most successful
advocates of public transit.
