A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
WHEREAS, the Southeast Mosquito Abatement District has
, been an integral part of disease control for many years; and
WHEREAS, the Southeast area has enjoyed an environment
virtually free of mosquitos; and
WHEAREAS, Encephalitis has been reduced from 16 cases in
1984 to 3 cases in 1986 partly because of the efforts of the
Mosquito Abatement District; and
WHEREAS, effective control is best accomplished by full
converage of contiguous areas; and
WHEREAS, the County Chief Administrative Officer is
making reommendations that will result in the County
withdrawing participation in the District; and
WHEREAS, this proposal will adversely effect the cities
who are members of the District; and
wHEREAS, the lack of treatment in the County areas would
result in an increase in new cases of Encephalitis;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Lynwood
encourage the County of Los Angeles to continue with
, mosquito abatement contract services after July 1, 1987.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution
be sent to Members of the Board of Supervisors and all
Members of the Southeast Mosquito Abatement District.
