HomeMy Public PortalAboutBoard of Health Minutes 10-21-2020_202012041116083701BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES The Watertown Board of Health has scheduled a REMOTE ZOOM meeting on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at 7:00 pm PRESENT: Dr. John Straus, Chairperson and Dr. Barbara Beck, Secretary; Richard Arnold, Board Member. Staff: Larry Ramdin, Director of Public Health CALL TO ORDER: Dr. Straus called the meeting to order 7:04 pm Minutes Minutes were approved for September 16, 2020 meeting, with the adjustment to the face covering order. A motion was taken to accept the amendment to the face covering order. Motions granted (Beck, Arnold 2nd) 3-0. All in favor. Minutes were approved for the Dangerous Dog Hearing on September 29, 2020 Motions granted (Beck, Arnold 2nd) 3-0. All in favor. Public Comment No public comments. Farmers' Market Updates Stephanie Venizelos reported all went well this year considering the presence of COVID 19. All the precautions were taken and was well received. Average customers per week were 450 to 600. Vendors did well. The preorder option was well utilized. Dick's, produce vendor is offering a fall CSA box to be delivered to Watertown twice a month. (Saltonstall Park & WHA) The original target for this program is SNAP customers who can order the box for free with their HIP benefit. One third of fall CSA customers are SNAP eligible. COVID -19 Update Watertown has had 551 cases, 18 active cases, 15 new cases, 0 deaths Cause of the increase in activity is due to family spread. Flu Clinic and Flu Shots Wil Van dinter has vaccinated 503 doses throughout the season. SSRS Quarterly Report (First report for FY2021) Larry Ramdin stated the needs for services are rising, clients in the food pantry has increased 100%. Will Brownsberger, State Senator has introduced programs through RAFT and ERMA to potentially provide financial assistance to renters/homeowners based on COVID-19 and income. 1Irage Staffing and Department Update The Department is fully staffed. There is a need for part-time nurse/health worker to assists public health nurse with contact tracing and entering the COVID -19 data into the MAVEN system. Dangerous Dog Update The owner of Jake is complying with the muzzle order and liability insurance.
