A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
CHANGING THE NAME OF CENTURY BOULEVARD BETWEEN CHECK AVENUE
AND ALAMEDA AVENUE
WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King has been a great civil
rights leader and American; and
WHEREAS, he was awarded the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize; and
WHEREAS, he was the Founder and President of the
Southern Christian Conference; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has decided to honor his
many accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood has
appointed an Ad Hoc Committee which has determined that
Century boulevard could best serve its purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
Lynwood does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the name of Century boulevard from Check
Avenue to Alameda Avenue hereby be changed and established
as Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Section 2. Be it further resolved that the City Clerk
shall transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to
the County Engineer of Los Angeles County, the Board of
