The Council of the City of Medina met in Special Session on Tuesday, September 24,
1985 at 7:00 P.M. to discuss the 1986 Budget,and Comparable Worth.
Present: Mayor, Thomas Anderson; Councilmembers, Wilfred Scherer, Anne Heideman, Robert
Mitchell, William Reiser; Clerk -Treasurer, Donna Roehl; Planning and Zoning
Administrator, JoEllen Hurr; Police Chief, Michael Sankey; Public Works
Director, James Dillman
1. BUDGET
Revised budget for 1986 was discussed in an attempt to reduce expenditures for 1986.
Department heads were asked to delete 1% from each department budget and Mayor Anderson
stated that he would prepare revised copies for the October 1st meeting.
2. LAURA SKARDA
Moved by Mitchell, seconded by Heideman to remove Laura Skarda from probation and increase
her salary by 50(F per hour, due to the agreement made at time of hire and in an effort to
secure salary equity increase Karen dAhlberg's salary by 25cP per hour.
Motion declared carried
3. COMPARABLE WORTH
Council discussed the necessity of completing the Comparable Worth report and the means
by which to implement it by placing 1% of total salary amount into a Sinking Fund.
Anne Heideman stated that she would meet with Department Heads to review work that each
had done on the study.
Donna Roehl reported that the cities report would need to be completed and submitted some-
time in November.
4. PLANNING AND ZONING DEPARTMENT
JoEllen Hurr reported that she and Glenn Cook had met with Mr. and Mrs. Holasek regarding
assessments for the Hunter Dr. north improvement.
She stated that she would be meeting with Minnegasco again on Thursday and that the
attorney was proceeding to secure an easement from WCCO for the Co. Rd. 116 extension.
5. BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS
Moved by Scherer, seconded by Heideman to authorize placing electrical outlets to accomodate
plugging in city police and administration cars in the winter at a cost of $490. and to
install a separate meter for the city hall air conditioners at a cost of $550.00

6. STREET SIGNS
Moved by Heideman, seconded by Reiser to authorize placing "No Parking" signs on Tamarack
Dr. in the vicinity of Fortuna Farms, at the request of the Police Chief.
Motion declared carried
Moved by Mitchell, seconded by Reiser to adjourn.
Motion declared carried
