See additional details at www.mvfair.com Kevin Adams Many people will recognize this month’s neighbor as he has served on Riverdale’s City Council for the last 3.5 years! As a Council member, he was one of my bosses, but I, Sabryna, hadn’t had a chance to really chat with him outside of a meeting. I recently had the opportunity to interview him over the phone and learn a bit about Kevin. I feel the newsletter is the perfect time to recognize his service to the City and introduce him to anyone who may not have met him yet. Without further hesitation, “Get to know your neighbor” Kevin Adams. Kevin has lived in the Pleasant Hills neighborhood for 7 years with his wife (Dawn), 2 children, and their dog (Prancer). A little side story– Prancer is famous in Riverdale! Kevin’s son did a research project after Prancer was attacked by a coyote. That research project is the reason we re -instated coyote trapping. Thank you, Prancer, we are glad you are well! After growing up in Walcott, Kevin, and family, did move around the Quad Cities a bit. They settled in Riverdale because it offered the small town feel while being close to the amenities of a larger city. The Adams ’ love the yard sizes and space between neighboring homes. The added benefit is the Pleasant Valley School District! A little trivia knowledge about Kevin: His hobbies include fishing and races; he especially loves going to dirt track/ stock car races. Kevin is also a Veteran! He proudly served in the United States Army from 1988-1991! Kevin first got involved in Riverdale’s city government by serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission. When the Woods Estates TIF became a hot topic, he decided to run for City Council. Kevin served on City Council from January 2020 until July 2023. Kevin recently resigned from his position but still deeply cares about the City of Riverdale. Kevin has a couple of things that he is most proud of during his time on Council. The first is the fence separating the Mississippi River Trail (MRT) from Kensington St. He feels this was very important to the community, particularly the Havens Acres neighborhood. The other accomplishment is the newsletter. He is very happy that the newsletter is back and better than ever! (Thanks, Kevin) One of Kevin’s favorite Riverdale memories was when he was chased by a wild turkey across HWY 67. Kevin, being worried for a poor turkey in the road, thought he could chase it back into the woods to avoid it being potentially hit by a car. The turkey, however, was not concerned and instead charged him. Kevin required the assistance of 2 Riverdale Fire Fighters to help him exit the situation he found himself in. Rumor has it that there may even be a video of this incident that circulated around the Riverdale Fire Department...although, I have no proof of its existence. Thank you for your service to the City of Riverdale, Kevin!
