RESOLUTION 2023-027
RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE INTERNATIONAL
SWIMMING POOL & SPA CODE
WHEREAS, Council has thoroughly discussed the adoption of the International Swimming Pool & Spa
Code, and staff has consulted with the Scott County Planning Department, the City's legal counsel, and
the City's insurance agent; and,
WHEREAS, the Scott County Planning Department, the City's legal counsel, and the City's insurance
agent have all either recommended adoption of this Code, or have expressed no opposition to the City
adopting this Code; and,
WHEREAS, Scott County has adopted the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code, and is currently
enforcing it in all of Scott County; and,
WHEREAS, Scott County has advised that it does not enforce City ordinances; therefore, if the City of
Riverdale desires to keep additional zoning ordinances (such as the requirement that a fence be 5' tall as
opposed to the Code's 4' tall requirement), the City will continue to enforce its own ordinances; and,
WHEREAS, the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code is updated from time-to-time, and Council
wishes to adopt the current and future iterations of such Code; and,
WHEREAS, there is no funding source required for this action.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERDALE, IOWA,
THAT:
SECTION 1: The 2021 International Swimming Pool & Spa Code is adopted, and all future iterations of
the Code are included in this adoption.
SECTION 2: The Clerk is directed to write an ordinance amendment to incorporate this Code's adoption
for readings at future meetings.
