HomeMy Public PortalAbout2019-03-07 minutesCity of Jefferson Police Personnel Board Minutes-March 7, 2019 The meeting was called to order at 12:07 p.m. Nine persons attended as follows: BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT (6) STAFF PRESENT (3) Mr. Stacey Backues (Chair) Chief Schroeder Mr. Kemp Shoun (Vice-Chair) Sara Trittler, H.R. Ms. Lisa Lehman (Secretary) Lt. Dave Williams Ms. Stephanie Scruggs Mr. Dan Klindt Mr. Pete Fleischmann BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT (1) Mr. Bill Burton Following greetings, roll call was taken. Approval of January 3, 2019 minutes It was moved by Klindt and seconded by Shoun that both the open and closed minutes from January 3, 2019 Board meeting be approved. The motion was carried unanimously. Old Business Hiring update- Lt. Williams announced that Alia Jones was hired on February 11, 2019 as a Communications Operator and two Police Officers were hired as follows: Jerry Scotty Smith – February 11, 2019 Dylan McKinsey – February 25, 2019 New Business Lt. Williams announced that due to current vacancies – 1 vacancy for Communications Operator and 1 vacancy for Police Officer, we need to schedule testing dates and plan for an August academy. These positions will be advertised and open for accepting applications from March 8, 2019 through April 10th, 2019. The Board discussed dates and scheduled testing as follows: Communications Operator Testing - Thursday, April 25, 2019 6:30 p.m. Police Officer Testing - Friday, April 26th, 2019 1:00 p.m. & Saturday, April 27th, 2019 9:00 a.m. Chief Schroeder announced that a former employee of the department who was employed for 15 years and had left in good standing has made it known that he is interested in coming back after being away for 3 ½ years and has requested to be considered for re-employment when there is a vacancy. The Board discussed the details of re-hiring process for this individual and after a discussion between board members, H.R. staff member, and Chief Schroeder, a motion was made by Scruggs and seconded by Kemp to approve the re-hire process for this individual by first applying for an open position of interest and next to have appropriate background investigation and interview with Chief Schroeder, allowing staff to expedite hiring process at Chief Schroeder and Human Resources discretion. The motion carried unanimously. Next meeting- May 2nd, 2019 Adjourn It was moved by Fleischman and seconded by Lehman for adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 12:49 p.m. Respectfully, Lisa Lehman
