CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
ADJOURNED MEETING
May 28, 1970
INITIATION:
1. Mayor Merritt called the adjourned meeting of the City Council
to order at 7:45 p.m.
2. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was led by Mayor Merritt.
3. ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Councilmen - Gilbertson, Harker, Tyrell, Merritt
ABSENT: Councilmen- Briggs
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Koski, Director of Public Works
Pizzorno, Ray E. Lewis of Krelle & Lewis, Inc.
Councilman Tyrell moved to excuse Councilman Briggs for business
reasons, seconded by Councilman Gilbertson and carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
4. ACCEPTANCE OF BID: Live Oak Park Expansion - Sprinkler and
Landscaping
City Manager Koski advised that the bids for sprinkler system
and landscaping for Live Oak Park extension had been opened on
May 27, 1970, as advertised, and that a low bid in the amount
of $30,075 had been submitted by Roy C. Barnett of Riverside,
which was 14.7% below the engineer's estimate.
Ray E. Lewis of Krelle & Lewis, Inc., engineers, advised that
the qualifications of the bidder had been checked out and
submitted a recommendation that the bid of Roy C. Barnett be
accepted as the responsible bidder.
Councilman Tyrell moved that the bid of Roy C. 3arnett, 2908
Jefferson Street, Riverside, be accepted in the amount of
$30,075 for installation of Sprinkler Systems and Landscaping
for Live Oak Park expansion, and to authorize the Mayor and
City Clerk to sign the agreement. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Harker and carried.
5. COMMUNICATIONS: None
6. TIME FOR THOSE IN AUDIENCE WHO WISH TO SPEAK: No one came forward..
7. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS:
A. City Manager Koski reminded the Council that the City Hall
would be closed on Friday, May 29, 1970, in commemoration of
Memorial Day.
B. Councilman Tyrell advised that the chains at the entrance to
Jack -in- the -Box Drive -in were still inadequate since they were
only secured with bailing wire and were easily broken. Staff
was directed to contact the management of Jack -in- the -Box to
advise that this would be included in the Sheriff's report and
that more adequate chaining was necessary.
8. ADJOURNMENT:
Councilman Tyrell moved to adjourn at 7:55 p.m., seconded by
Councilman Gilbertson and carried.
Next regular meeting of the City Council will be held on Tuesday,
June 2, 1970, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
