HomeMy Public PortalAbout07 Observed Holiday ChangesTOWN OF TRUCKEE California ORDINANCE NO. 97-07 AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF TRUCKEE AMENDING THE TRUCKEE MUNICIPAL CODE, CHAPTER 2.60, SECTION 2.60.010 (HOLIDAYS OBSERVED BY THE TOWN) The Town Council of the Town of Truckee Does Ordain as Follows: Section 1. En~tment. Chapter 2.60 of the Truckee Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending Section 2.60.010 thereto as designated in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. Section 2. Summary_ Publication arid Po~ting, Within thirty (30) days after final adoption of this Ordinance, the Town Clerk shall have a summary of the ordinance prepared by the Town Attorney and published as required. Within fifteen (15) days after final adoption of this Ordinance, the Town Clerk shall have it posted in the three (3) public places designated by Resolution of the Council. The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Truckee, held on the 21st day of August, 1997, by Councilmember McCormack, who moved its introduction, which motion was seconded by Councilmember Florian, was upon roll call carried by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Carpenter, Florian, McCormack, Susman & Mayor Drake NOES: None ABSENT: None Robert W. Drake, Mayor Attest: Stephen L.V~/right, Town Cle~/~ CHAPTER 2.60 HOLIDAYS OBSERVED BY THE TOWN 2,60.010 Holidays Observed by the Town. (a) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained within California Government Code Section 6700, the public offices of the Town, excluding those offices which must remain open for the continuation of essential public services such as police protection, shall be dosed on Saturdays, Sundays and on the following, and only the following holidays: 1. New Year's Day (January 1) 2. Martin Luther King's Day (Third Monday in January) 4. Presidents Day (Third Monday in February) 5. Memorial Day (Last Monday in May) 6. Independence Day (July 4) 7. Labor Day (First Monday in September) 8. Columbus Day (Second Monday) 9. Veterans Day (November 11) 10. Thanksgiving Day (Fourth Thursday in November) I1. Friday following Thanksgiving 11 a Christmas Eve Day (December 24) 12. Christmas Day (December 25) (b) Holidays falling on Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Holidays falling on Saturday shall be observed on the preceding Friday. Council. (c) Other holidays may be designated by resolution or ordinance of the Town (Ord9315 6-3-93) (d) Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section, the Town Manager shah be authorized, by administrative regulation or otherwise, to direct that all or a portion of the public offices of the Town shall remain open for business, on a full or reduced staff basis, on any of the days or holidays prescribed above, when it is determined to be necessary in the public interest to do so.
