Local Player Wins Mid-Atlantic Super 660 Tennis Tournament
at Ida Lee Tennis Center
Leesburg, VA (October 27, 2015) – Drew Dale,
13, of Leesburg, recently won the Mid-Atlantic
Super 600 Tennis tournament, held at Ida Lee
Tennis Center.
Drew, who is currently ranked #3 in the Mid-
Atlantic and #17 nationally in the 14 and Under
Divisions, began playing tennis competitively
only one year after starting tennis classes at
Ida Lee Tennis Center when he was 10.
“Drew is a rare breed of junior tennis player
who has it all – an understanding of the game, talent, work ethic and desire,” said Mark Elliott,
Ida Lee’s tennis professional and one of Drew’s coaches. “Having worked with five players who
have achieved a number one ranking in the USTA, I fully expect Drew to be the sixth.”
Since then, Drew has won two national titles. He won the Doubles Championship last year
when he was 12. More recently, he won the National Selection Tournament (14 and Under
Division) in Virginia Beach this past Memorial Day. Drew has begun playing “up” in the 16 and
Under Division and is currently ranked #30 in that division in the Mid-Atlantic.
Drew is a straight-A student at J.L. Simpson Middle School where he plays French horn in the
band. He hopes get to the U.S. Open in the Junior Division next year.
