“Sun Flower” by Alyssa Imes Receives 2021 ArtsPARKs
People’s Choice Award
Imes’ work is one of five sculptures on the ArtsPARKs Sculpture Trail, in Raflo
Park, on display through June 2022.
Leesburg, VA (May 28, 2021) – The Leesburg
Commission on Public Art (COPA) and Friends of
Leesburg Public Art (FOLPA) is pleased to announce that
the winner of the 2021 ArtsPARKs People’s Choice
Award is Alyssa Imes’ “Sun Flower”.
A sculptor from Emmitsburg, Maryland, Imes’ artistic
portfolio began in 2016. Within her work, Imes tries to
convey the presence of positivity through bright colors
and playful shapes.
“Only with warmth and care, people can truly blossom
and bring joy to others with their beauty,” Imes said.
The ArtsPARKs Sculpture Trail is a collaboration between the Commission on Public Art (COPA)
and the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts (FOLPA). The five sculptures currently installed will
remain on display until June 2022, at which time a new round of sculptures will be installed. All
the sculptures are available for purchase. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sales will be
invested in the ArtsPARKs program, paving the way for new artists to exhibit t heir work in
subsequent years. The ArtsPARKs Sculpture Trail is part of the Loudoun County Artisan Trail
network.
