Soft Launch of Leesburg’s Arts & Cultural District
Leesburg, VA (June 24, 2021) – Please join Leesburg Mayor Kelly Burk and Town Council
members at the soft launch of Leesburg’s Arts & Cultural District. An unveiling of new banners,
which will help identify the district, will take place in addition to a two-day visit from the
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ (VMFA) traveling museum and art studio , which will be free to
tour. Special activities will also be planned at participating businesses.

The Arts and Cultural District includes historic downtown Leesburg, which is the concentrated
area of retail, restaurant, public, and residential buildings. The district was formed to offer tax
incentives to artists and art-based businesses located within. The Commission on Public Arts
(COPA) and Friends of Leesburg Public Arts (FOLPA) has worked on ways to brand the district
through a new logo and banner that will help to increase tourism, attract new businesses, and
promote public art locations for residents and visitors to enjoy. The banner will be unveiled to
the public, for the first time, during this event. COPA will also welcome the VMFA who will be
visiting Leesburg for the first time as part of their “VMFA on the Road” exhibit. Sponsors
include FOLPA, Leesburg’s Economic Development Department, Visit Loudoun, CoUrbanize,
and Virginia Village.
