Town Celebrates New Bus Shelter and Updated Townwide Bus
Stop Signage
Leesburg, VA (June 30, 2021) – This morning,
Leesburg Mayor Kelly Burk and Town Council Member
Zach Cummings officially opened the new bus shelter
on the corner of Edwards Ferry Road and Heritage
Way, in northeast Leesburg. The ribbon cutting
ceremony also celebrated the installation of new
signage at all 105 Loudoun County Transit bus stops
within the town.
The new bus shelter, which has solar-powered
lighting, was installed at an existing bus stop that
primarily serves patrons of Loudoun County services
located in the Shenandoah Building and residents of
northeast Leesburg who rely on public transportation
to employment and shopping destinations. The
project included the construction of a sidewalk along
the north side of Edwards Ferry Road between
Heritage Way and the Shenandoah Building,
providing safe and ADA-compliant access from the
bus stop to the county offices.
The new bus stop signs include a graphic symbol of a
bus and the route number, along with the website
and phone number for Loudoun County Transit. The
entire project cost $129,745, with approximately 29%
of the funding provided by a Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding through
Loudoun County.
