“Bubble Bug” Float Wins 14th Annual Patriot Cup
Leesburg, VA (July 7, 2021) – The 31st
annual Independence Day parade featured
more than 65 entries this year. Members of
the Leesburg Daybreak Rotary Club judged
the float, “Bubble Bug”, created by Karen
Hermann and Michael James, as “Best in
Show”.
The decorated Volkswagen Beetle featured
a spirited patriotic theme with a high-output
bubble machine that sent a trail of soap
bubbles floating from the back of the car.
Mayor Kelly Burk presented the 14th annual
Patriot Cup to the recipients prior to the parade. It will be engraved with their names and
placed on display at the Leesburg Town Hall. Hermann and James will be presented with a
certificate of recognition during the July 13 Town Council meeting. The Patriot Cup competition
is sponsored by Loudoun Now newspaper.
