A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR/CLERK
TO REQUEST AN EXTENSION TO THE MARCH 15, 2015 DEADLINE
FOR FILING THE CITY OF TIFFIN•BUDGET FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2016 FROM THE
AUDITOR OF JOHNSON COUNTY AND THE
IOWA DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT
WHEREAS, the resignation and leave-taking of the City Administrator/Clerk in January
and resultant shortfall in staffing was contributory in missing notice and publication deadlines
for the filings for budget hearings required by the Iowa Code; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council retained an interim Administrator/Clerk in mid February
to assist it in timely undertaking the tasks and responsibilities of the job on its behalf, who
determined that an extension would be required to properly meet the requirements of the Iowa
Code for filing of budget documents for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016; and,
WHEREAS, the interim Administrator/Clerk did communicate the need for an extension
to the Mayor and Council of the City of Tiffin and the offices of Auditor of Johnson County and
the Iowa Department of Management and learned that an extension could be requested and
granted in circumstances similar to the above.
NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TIFFIN, JOHNSON COUNTY, IOWA:
SECTION I: That on the 25th day of February, 2015, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin
City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, that interim City Administrator/Clerk Tim Long introduced
Resolution No. 2015-028, A Resolution Authorizing the City Administrator/Clerk
To Request an Extension to the March 15, 2015 Deadline for Filing the City of Tiffin
Budget for the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2016 From the Auditor of Johnson County and
the Iowa Department of Management, with a motion by Upton and seconded by Havens to
approve.
SECTION II: Whereupon four Council members were present and voted approval and
Mayor Berrier declared that the Resolution No. 2015-028, A Resolution Authorizing the City
Administrator/Clerk To Request an Extension to the March 15, 2015 Deadline for Filing
the City of Tiffin Budget for the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2016 From the Auditor of
Johnson County and the Iowa Department of Management to be adopted and signified his
approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
Passed by the City Council on the 25th day of February, 2015.
