RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD MAKING APPLICATION TO THE LOCAL AGENCY
FORMATION COMMISSION OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY FOR
REORGANIZATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, DESIGNATED
AS "ANNEXATION N0. 3" TO THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
(DETACHMENT FROM CONSOLIDATED FIRE PROTECTION
~. DISTRICT AND FIRESTONE DISPOSAL DISTRICT)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood desires
to initiate proceedings for reorganization pursuant to the District
Reorganization ACt of 1965 (Part 1, commencing with Section 56000,
of Division 1 of Title 6 of the Government Code),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
Section 1. Application is hereby made to the Local Agency
Formation Commission for the reorganization of certain territory,
identified as Annexation No. 3. The exterior boundaries of such
territory are set forth in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made
a part hereof by this reference.
Section 2. The reasons for this proposal are that the
City of Lynwood 1) wishes to straighten out and align its bound-
aries with respect to surrounding jurisdictions through annexation
of the territory; and 2) wishes to eliminate blight in the area
by developing sites for possible relocation of households, retail
outlets, and industries displaced by the Century Freeway and
wishing to remain in the local community, by allowing expansion
of industrial businesses into the area, and by providing sites
for other public facilities and industries needed in the area.
Section 3. The nature of the proposed changes in organi-
zation and the affected agencies are: annexation to the City of
Lynwood and detachment of the same territory from Consolidated
Fire Protection District and from Firestone Garbaqe Disposal
District.
Section 4. The proposed reorganization is subject to no
specific terms or conditions, except that the affected territory
shall also be withdrawn from Consolidated Sewer Maintenance
District and from Willowbrook Lighting District.
Section 5. The City Clerk of the City of Lynwood is
authorized and directed to file a certified copy of this Resolu-
tion with the Local Agency Formation Commission of Los Angeles
County, together with the necessary fee.
